Homemade Nougat Bars
Ingredients:
2 cups white chocolate chips (or chopped white chocolate)
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup mixed dried fruits (e.g., dried apricots, cherries, pineapple, papaya)
1 cup mixed nuts (e.g., almonds, pistachios, cashews)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pan:
Line an 8x8-inch square baking dish or a similar-sized pan with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang on the sides for easy removal later.
2. Melt the White Chocolate and
Marshmallows:
In a medium saucepan, combine the white chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.
Add the sweetened condensed milk and cook over low to medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and the marshmallows have melted completely.
3. Add Flavor and Texture:
Once the chocolate-marshmallow mixture is smooth, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Gently fold in the mixed dried fruits and mixed nuts until evenly distributed.
4. Transfer to the Pan:
Pour the nougat mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly using a spatula.
Press the mixture down gently to ensure it’s compacted and smooth on top.
5. Chill:
Refrigerate the nougat for at least 2-3 hours, or until fully set and firm.
6. Slice and Serve:
Once the nougat is set, lift it out of the pan using the parchment paper.
Cut into bars or squares and enjoy!
