No-Oven Stovetop Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
• 5 cups flour
• 2 cups warm milk
• 1 cup of oil (vegetable or canola)
• 1 tablespoon dry yeast
• 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
For boiling the dough:
• 2.5 – 3 liters of water
• 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Dough:
• Grab a big mixing bowl. Pour in the warm milk, sugar, and dry yeast. Stir it up good. Let it chill for 5-10 minutes until it's got a frothy top, telling you the yeast is awake.
• Toss in the flour, oil, and salt into the yeast mix. Stir it all up until it's doughy. If it's too sticky or dry, tweak the flour or milk a bit till it feels just right.
• Next up, knead that dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes. You want it smooth and stretchy.
2. Let the Dough Rise:
• Grease up a bowl. Plop the kneaded dough in there. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it chill in a warm spot for around 1 hour. You'll know it's ready when it doubles in size.
3. Prepare for Boiling:
• Get a big pot and fill it with 2.5 to 3 liters of water. Bring it to a boil and toss in a teaspoon of salt.
4. Shape and Boil the Bread:
• When the dough's done rising, give it a punch and shape it into balls or whatever you fancy.
• Drop those doughy pieces into the boiling water, a few at a time. Let them swim for 1-2 minutes until they puff up and float.
5. Cook on Stovetop:
• Heat up a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once it's hot, throw on the boiled bread pieces.
• Cook each side for 2-3 minutes until they're golden and crispy. Give 'em a little press with a spatula for even cooking.
6. Serve:
• Serve up that stovetop bread warm. Slather it with butter, jam, or whatever tickles your taste buds. Enjoy!
