TURKISH LOKMA: the best sweet fritters ever!
I must warn you that it’s addictive! These taste so darn good and they're super easy to make:
Lokma is a Turkish little yeast-risen dough puffs deep-fried to a golden brown, then drizzled with honey syrup and sprinkled with cinnamon.
It’s not a very heavy dessert, it’s not hard to make and it’s very delicious!
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 cup flour.
• 3/4 cup water.
• 1 tbsp of cornstarch.
• 1 tbsp of yeast
• 1/2 tbsp sugar
• 1/4 tbsp baking powder
• 1 tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 tsp vanilla
INGREDIENTS FOR SYRUP:
• 1 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 1/4 cup water
• 3 tbsp of honey
• Cardamom
• a pinch of salt
METHOD:
Make yeast dough, let it rise for 1 hour
Syrup:
Mix water and sugar in a saucepan, let the sugar dissolve, cook for 5-10 minutes.
Add cardamom, salt, mix
Add honey
Heat the vegetable oil for frying
Transfer the dough into a bag and squeeze the balls, cut with KITCHEN SCISSORS
Fry until golden brown
Roll them in syrup and serve with syrup.
